Skills Collaboration with External Partners in London and Ghana

At Skills Zone International Youth Work Organisation, we encourage collaborative projects with external partners designed to develop practical skills and provide employment opportunities for young people. Working with external partners allows our young people to understand the working environment directly.

Our Partners

URBAN Youth FLEX

We collaborate alongside another youth programme, URBAN Youth FLEX, to help people secure employment in drama and media sectors. They help with job interviews and training, and also offer skills programmes that complement our efforts. URBAN Youth FLEX also offers counselling, mentoring, and employment opportunities for anyone interested in gaining work experience with TV programmes. Together we are helping young people become more independent. We give young people the opportunity to provide high-quality, well-run customer service within a job role.

Ghana Street Foods Project

One of our collaborative ventures is the Ghana Street Foods Project, which provides opportunities for young people to develop entrepreneurial skills through the creation and selling of traditional Ghanaian dishes. Participants learn a wealth of knowledge and training about the culinary arts, business, strategic planning, marketing, and advertising. The short-term value is employment, but our goal is to maintain longevity for the youth we serve.

More Partners Wanted

We are looking to work with other partners who will benefit young people. The goal is to get international exposure for young people, including the potential for work experience abroad since we are based in both London and Ghana. Our goal is to give Ghanaians the chance to come to England and vice versa.

Our Principles and Values

Key Principles and Values of SZIYWO

As a youth development programme, SZIYWO is governed by seven fundamental principles and values. These principles and values are guidelines to provide the necessary interventions and services for the youth and the organisation.

Self-Reliance

As future leaders, the youth should be imbued with the spirit of self-reliance to harness their potentials, creativity, and initiative.

Developing our People and Valuing Diversity

To recognize the diversity and contribution of our youth. We create a work environment that is challenging and provides the opportunities and support for everyone to develop, learn, and succeed.

Winning through Teamwork

We encourage individual ownership; however, we work as a team. We value the expertise, individuality, and contribution of all colleagues, working in support of each other and readily sharing good practice, in pursuit of shared goals.

Leadership

The youth must be challenged with opportunities to actively lead in matters that affect them, their communities, and the nation.

Responsibility

We take responsibility for our actions, both individually and as a group. Every day, we look to make a positive contribution to the health and well-being of our customers, the communities we work in, and the world we live in.

Openness, Trust, and Integrity

We set the highest ethical and professional standards at all times. We want all our relationships to be based on honesty, respect, fairness, and a commitment to open dialogue and transparency.

Patriotism

Love for country should be inculcated as a core value in the youth.
