About Skills Zone International Youth Work Organisation
Skills Zone International Youth Work Organisation (SZIYWO) is a London-based, non-profit youth work programme. Founded by Charlene Clotworthy and Henewaa Twene, two youth work professionals who saw the need to offer young people who are socially excluded a voice to challenge social inequalities. SZIYWO are aware of the need for improvement in services provided for at-risk young people, and attempts to address this issue by creating opportunities to develop both their hard and soft skills, through education, training, and employment. Focusing on young people who are at risk of falling into the category of Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) and those who already represent that demographic, SZIYWO work to develop interpersonal and intrapersonal social skills.
This enables our participants to develop and enjoy successful relationships, find jobs, and work well both independently and as part of a team. These young people will be supported by qualified tutors and mentors during their time with Skills Zone International Youth Work Organisation. We believe the future is already happening and therefore need to respond to the opportunities and challenges it brings.
Thus, our response is to create a structure through which everyone has access to the kind of experience that develops both hard and soft skills. Offering a well-rounded service to our entire client group through the Skills Lab Programme, we provide a range of different services and support methods to help equip young people with both sector-based and functional skills, while providing opportunities that encourage work experience within their chosen field leading to permanent employment.
